I had a very, very hard time coming up with 10 ideas that could make air travel better. I rather enjoy air travel, unless I get stuck in a middle seat on a long cross-country flight and I have two large men sitting beside me. Then I get a little claustrophobic. The truth is, I am always claustrophobic on airplanes, I just hide it well. I have developed my system of having movies downloaded onto my tablet or phone, music for when those are over, and a book to read when I get bored of that. I do whatever I can to get the emergency row so that my legs aren't pushed into the seat in front of me the whole time. If all of those things are set up, then flying is a joy. I don't even mind the security check. So, when I started thinking of how travel could be better, I really struggled... and came up with some far fetched ideas.
1. Instead of packing 5 days worth of clothes in a suitcase or duffel bag, I could buy 5 pairs of those clothes that are shrink wrapped and then when you put them in water they expand into clothes. I've only been able to find them as t-shirts online, but I know I have seen them in stores. But I could probably fit a whole weeks worth of clothes in my pockets and I might not ever have to stop at the baggage claim again. :)

2. The TV on the back of the seat - I know that this is not my idea. But it is such a good one that I think it deserves to be celebrated. Even though one time I did end up paying extra to watch the Lone Ranger. Waste of money.
3. Leg Room- I have long legs. I often imagine what flying would be like if all of the seats had the same leg room as the emergency isle. It would be glorious... except then I wonder if people who are shorter than me and have short arms would be able to reach the sky mall magazine and the emergency procedures card.
4. Disposable paper or plastic on each seat for each flight - This idea was shared by one of my germophobe co-workers. She cleans the entire seat and window by her with a Clorox wipe before she sits down. She thought it would be a good idea if the seats were wrapped in plastic that would be replaced after each flight. I was willing to settle for the paper stuff that are on the bed things in doctor's offices. Which led me to think...
5. What if every seat WAS one of those doctor bed things!!!- Think of how comfortable you would be for the entire flight. Need a nap, no big deal, you would even have enough room to lay on your side. There would plenty of personal space for everyone. It is brilliant, but not cost effective.
6. Getting the whole can of Ginger Ale - I always choose Ginger Ale and I loved it when we used to get the whole can. I have heard that you can ask for the can, but I am an S personality and it would be too far out of my comfort zone to do so. But as long as I am asking for the whole can of soda, why not ask for all complimentary snacks to...

I really don't know why there is play dough as part of the meal, but I could enjoy eating heartily like that on a plane. Even if I was just flying to Denver or Vegas.
8. Teletransportation - You think of where you want to be, then you are just there. This has to happen in the future... right? Except we were talking about how fieldwork with students would be harder to manage. You tell them to think their way to Dinosaur National Monument or something and then they just think their way home. It would still be worth it.
9. The flight attendants do mini Broadway plays during the flight - Nevermind, this is a horrible idea. Unless they did them as...
10. Broadway Musical Puppet Shows - And on shorter flights they could do the condensed version of the plays. There would be a little stage in between first class and coach. The curtain between first class and coach would be the curtain for the show.
